It's Showtime

I watched a movie named “Showtime” last night with great act of Robert De Niro and Eddie Murphy. I could not help it; I had to write something up about unfortunate real world facts presented implicitly in this movie. Different people may have various perceptions of this movie though.
Mitch has been a well-known and respectable detective looking after crimes on the street and solving cases, basically, trying to do his best. During a case he threats a camera man by shooting his camera to make him stay out of his way. You can guess the reaction of the TV channel, a lawsuit. The only way to drop the suit is participating of Mitch in a cop reality show to boost up the near bankruptcy TV station business. He agreed to do so against his will. Interestingly, the lady in charge of the show tries to change many aspects of his work and private life to be more “appealing” for the show viewers!
Doesn’t this scenario sound familiar to you? Don’t you think it’s been “show time” for a long time? Isn’t disguising part of their lives and views? You know who I am talking about, politicians. They are just not honor (This is especially obvious in my beloved country). Well, I would not really call them politicians though; they are just bunch of phonies that found the way to rule the country despotically. They have been deceiving people for more than 30 years and abusing people and our country to pursue their filthy goals. Facts have been hidden; fiction, disguising, and lies become the main ingredients of their recipe of anesthetic substance. They want to show everyone and everything the way they want to, not the way it is!
If you want to serve your country (which is exactly opposite of their target), you are accused of infidelity in their imposed believes, basically a custom astray version of holly Islam which helps them govern people. You are a monster which should be destroyed. Yes, this is their known (but secret!) weapon. Now, you have two choices, either you become a part of their gang and live happily ever after, or you insist on your faith and suffer the consequences. There is a third option: you can get along somehow not to destroy yourself, you must disguise too. Let’s put it in this way, in the great land of ours you must lie or die!

  1. I believe Iranian politicians are the most disgusting showmen ever. However, honestly we are all showmen/women with fake masks to please some people who bring some types of benefits for us. Be ghole jenabe Siavash:

  2. Let say my opinion is more closer to Mariam. I belive the politicians are Iranian too not from Mars!. So if the people respect the laws and regulations, the politicians will do as well. If we need a change we have to change ourselves. If a black man can be a president in US now it is because it is more than 2 decades the people (majority) belive they are all the same.

  3. couple of notes here:

    1. "I belive the politicians are Iranian too not from Mars!": there is no need for an alien to come and ruin a country, especially it's culture. just look at the current values in the society? do you notice any change during the past 30 years? are people more honest and respectful? you think they should have been because the government is a religous one. whay is that not the case? I tell you why: people trusted a group who represent themselves as God's representative (you know what this means in a 3rd world country that it's people just sit and pray for improvement). People have just been folowing their leads without thinking. After some years, leaders found that they can rule people very easily.

    2. "So if the people respect the laws and regulations, the politicians will do as well": I should disagree with this. which law are you talking about here? the one that they wrote and can change by in a sec by a simple order from the top guy? the one that they are in charge of forcing? the one that it is law for me and a "torn paper" for some? just look at the way we pass laws and force it? do you see any sign of people's contribution? Totaly dictatorship.

    3. "If we need a change we have to change ourselves": To some extend I agree with this. in order to change, people should realize that there is a need for change, right? also, people should sense that current values are not real values. unfortunately, our values have been changed during past 30 years. people try everything to keep their lives moving forward, basically "Goal explains the way you achieve it". I believe Machiavelli's approach has been very successful in ruling our country and keeping people out ot the stream.

    4. "If a black man can be a president in US now it is because it is more than 2 decades the people (majority) belive they are all the same.": just look at the US constitution created in 1778. What a great thought went to that. you do not see any sign of dictatorship in it. they could have been the king for many years! but they chose the best for their country. My point is when people who are in charge moves against people in a country, it took centuries to solve problems created by the government, let alone a country that at least 30% agree with government. I believe the number is much bigger, I talked to many of them this time I was there, they are just blind and do not want to listen to you. they think you are paied by a foreign country to change their minds. what a pitty!

    5. one great point is learning lessons from history. if US is a great nation now, it is because they learned their lessons from their mistakes in Europe. how about us? we get paid 10K Toman and forget about everything, thanks to their great policy of keeping people in demand and dependable. we do not even remember 4 years ago when thay promissed different things and did exact opposite.

  4. I just wanted to give a reason for the problems you mentioned. You are wright, we have lots of problems,we hear a lot about them here and there. But a soultion, you barely have seen.
The problem is we are thinking just about ourselves not the others. The only regulations that are good is the ones good for me and my family who cares about the rest of the people.
We need a change first in ourselves then ultimately it goes to the government.
Anyways, I would like to sit with you and discuss about the subject while drinking a hot persian tea.
