Which one scares you more: darkness or light?

The fear of the dark is a common fear among children and to a varying degree is observed for adults. I believe almost everybody has experienced the feel of fear in a dark place. The fuel for the fear of dark is human’s imagination. Everything in dark appears to be something else. People make things as scary as their imagination allows them in dark and this is just because of the lack of the vision. An interesting point of this kind of fear: Do you think if you have a full vision in a bright day and see a dragon you imagined last night in the dark, you would be as scared as last night? I don’t think so. This makes me think that limited or lack of vision is scary in nature.
However, let’s look at the other side of this coin. Sometimes, despite of the fear of dark, you prefer to stay in the dark because the truth is scarier than what you can imagine. You try to picture things that are not facts not to face the reality.
Unfortunately, this is what is going on in our world right now. We do not want to look, listen, and learn the facts. Why? because we do not want to accept the responsibility of knowing the truth. Because it is so easy to say "I did not know"!

Some try to get out of the dark and others, who I am jealous of, turn the light on for others as well. Now it is your turn!

I want my Iran free!

Freedom is the main and fundamental difference between human kind and animals. I believe that human is not free to choose and make decision in some circumstances but shouldn’t it be his choice how to live? Doesn’t that make him live like animals if he does whatever he is told to do (by any who)? Hasn’t God created all human beings equal with free will in their natures, not in two categories, master and slave? Hasn’t God told him to just listen to God's words, look deep into his heart, and decide using his own mind? Haven’t you seen people tried to take others freedom ended up nowhere and recorded infamy in the book of world history? I do not know about you, but my answer to these questions is definitely a “YES”.
Today, I am lost as a drop in the ocean of people who want to choose their path, people who want to be respected. The history remembers these people as the founder of human rights charter. There are proofs that there has been a long history of pure and holy religions in this land. Now these people are sick and tired of having their freedom and spirit taken away by a small group of foolishly pious idiots in the holly name of God and religion. It’s a pity that those who have the best culture and history ruled by some who are void of culture. Now these people put their lives in jeopardy to say “No, you don’t deserve us and our land”.
I want to talk to you Iranians: let me express my deep sympathy for all those have been hurt or lost a loved one. It is really sad to see a young man or woman is shot to death or beaten just because s/he is in street saying nothing but shouting that give my freedom back. There has been an excitement and praise about Green movement of brave Iranians. I worship your courage and perseverance.
I am really sorry for those who insulted the most intelligent and educated people; for those who came out of nowhere telling over sixty million people that they cannot be free. I have a word with those people too: you may do whatever you want but you will not last long!

I just wanted to say that there was a Coup in recent election in Iran and Ahmadinejad is not the president elect.

Don't you see similarities between the method used to run our beloved country and these quotes from Hitler?

When we are going to realize that humanity is not part of their faith? What it takes to prove that they are able to do ANY thing just to keep their dominant over people? How hard it is to differentiate light and darkness? As long as you keep your eyes shut, you think the darkness is the only thing and everything!

Change

“Change” is defined as:
1. To cause to be different
2. To go from one phase to another
3. To put on a different clothing
I could probably list other meanings for this word because there are so many cases that we use the word “change”. In addition, the usage of this word varies by the situation and from one person to another. Sometimes people consider a certain behavior or situation as “changed” while others may disagree. However, I believe we all agree that we should observe or sense difference(s) comparing two states to realize a change.
Change is inevitable in nature and specifically in human’s life. In fact, without change we are not alive. I want to differentiate various changes in human’s life based on my perspective of life. First, there are changes because of the human’s nature. Certain rules are imposed to human’s life because he is a live species: he is born someday, ages by time and eventually dies. I think these are important changes, yet so natural that we should just try to adapt ourselves. The more interesting change is the one that we decide to make it happen based on reasoning (hopefully). This category of changes is the day to day struggle of human’s life. That is exactly why you see some people always avoid change because first they are not wise and courageous enough to go through decision making process and also not strong enough to face the consequences of the change. On the other hand, you see many people who fails because they do not think before they act. In summary, a change must have the followings: 1) a reason, 2) a plan, 3) execution process, and finally 4) adaptation plan. I would say missing one of the four elements leaves you a bad memory.
After the above introduction, I want to discuss “change” from political point of view in our country Iran. We have a long history of changes: good and bad. Some of them were outstanding like nationalizing oil while some others were disasters like choosing a person as president with absolutely zero knowledge of running a small community, let alone a vast country like Iran. As far as my age and knowledge allows, we have been told that this is going to “change”! But I think what they are referring to is the third meaning of the word “change”. Honest to God, have you seen an event or behavior which leaves you the impression of real change? Of course, I have noticed many but unfortunately in the wrong direction. We are going through many changes leading our great nation to a swamp. This means when we get there, the more we try to get out, the less we succeed. I am hearing many slogans these days about major changes in the foundations. Are you kidding me? Are we that stupid to believe these statements? This is the way that a dictatorship presented as democracy works: they tight and loose the string around people necks. My beloved father always told me that “The donkey has not been changed, they just replaced the saddle”!
However, I believe some minor changes in the right direction could lead to major ones. So we cannot miss any opportunity to turn this ship around. Unfortunately, even those who sense the reason for change, do not have a plan or if they do, they do not stick to it. Not having a good execution team is another weakness. The worst part, I think, is how they want people to adjust to the change. A decision is made over night, executed tomorrow morning and people are expected to adopt and accept the change by the afternoon. I think this is the way they want to rule not only the country but also the world. What a nice management we have!

Rightness or Peace?

This was the title of my discussion with my wife last night. What would you do if you had to start a war (cold or hot, it does not matter) to show people the rightness? Obviously, you might be wrong and it may take lives to prove that.
My question is pretty clear: assuming you know the truth, do you think you have the right to break the peace to unveil the rightness and stop people from doing wrong?

It's Showtime

I watched a movie named “Showtime” last night with great act of Robert De Niro and Eddie Murphy. I could not help it; I had to write something up about unfortunate real world facts presented implicitly in this movie. Different people may have various perceptions of this movie though.
Mitch has been a well-known and respectable detective looking after crimes on the street and solving cases, basically, trying to do his best. During a case he threats a camera man by shooting his camera to make him stay out of his way. You can guess the reaction of the TV channel, a lawsuit. The only way to drop the suit is participating of Mitch in a cop reality show to boost up the near bankruptcy TV station business. He agreed to do so against his will. Interestingly, the lady in charge of the show tries to change many aspects of his work and private life to be more “appealing” for the show viewers!
Doesn’t this scenario sound familiar to you? Don’t you think it’s been “show time” for a long time? Isn’t disguising part of their lives and views? You know who I am talking about, politicians. They are just not honor (This is especially obvious in my beloved country). Well, I would not really call them politicians though; they are just bunch of phonies that found the way to rule the country despotically. They have been deceiving people for more than 30 years and abusing people and our country to pursue their filthy goals. Facts have been hidden; fiction, disguising, and lies become the main ingredients of their recipe of anesthetic substance. They want to show everyone and everything the way they want to, not the way it is!
If you want to serve your country (which is exactly opposite of their target), you are accused of infidelity in their imposed believes, basically a custom astray version of holly Islam which helps them govern people. You are a monster which should be destroyed. Yes, this is their known (but secret!) weapon. Now, you have two choices, either you become a part of their gang and live happily ever after, or you insist on your faith and suffer the consequences. There is a third option: you can get along somehow not to destroy yourself, you must disguise too. Let’s put it in this way, in the great land of ours you must lie or die!

Predestination and Freedom

Imagine you have just being created by God and started your happy life with your mate in a beautiful garden. Nobody to disturb you and you think you are happy. You are given everything under a condition: you SHOULD NOT eat from the “tree of knowledge of goodness and evil”. Why not? Nobody knows, maybe God did not want human to know the truth of good and evil. Well, if I was the first human created by God and I was just thrown to such a garden, I’d have tried some of that fruits, not because it looked good or someone tempted me, maybe to satisfy my curiosity or find out why it is forbidden. My point here is human was not created with the power to control his life. “Choosing” is meaningful when there is more than one way to go. Do you think Adam and Eve had a choice to eat or not to eat from that tree? Or they were created to follow a predetermined path? What would have happened if they had not eaten from that tree and please do not tell me that they would have lived happily after forever? No, crystal clear: I were not leaning on this couch and burning in the hell of my thoughts. To convince you that Adam had to choose the way he did, listen how Qur'an tells the story (chapter 2, verse 30): "And recall when your Lord said to the Angels, I am about to place a vice-generate in the Earth, they said, "will You place such who will spread disorder and shed blood'?". It is obvious from this quote that they knew human will come to the Earth and do such things.
Anyway, I think predestination is a concept that exists as a big picture of human life. We are just like a kid that his dad takes him to a toy store to buy his dream bike. The kid has spent days and nights thinking about which bike he likes not knowing that dad has already chosen the bike because dad thinks this is a good bike for his kid. Selected bike is presented to the poor kid with millions of reasons why this is the best bike in the world. Who cares about kid's dream! He is just given the chance to pick the color. How a proud kid! And I really feel bad for those kids who cannot even enjoy their favorite color.
Essential Truths of the Christian Faith, page 161: “…Our final destination, heaven or hell, is decided by God not only before we get there, but before we are born. Our ultimate destiny is in the hands of God”.
Qur'an, chapter 13, verse 27, : "Allah sends astray whomever he will".
You see this idea in most of religions along with human freedom! Human can freely chooses between good and bad, but the free will must be reconciled with God's omniscience and goodness in allowing man to choose badly. Basically, this means that human could not even choose badly if God did not want to. On the other hand, you hear a lot that "you would not be able to if God did not want to". Thank you for generous freedom, human freely chooses the way God wants to.

Wave

I assume you have heard of wave before. Wave, right! The thing that goes up and down to carry something around. This phenomenon is the root cause of everything that happens in this world. Waves live in different kinds like light and sound. They also have different characteristics such as visibility, length, frequency and so on.

Waves impact every one of us every day. Maybe you do not care if seismic waves can reshape the planet Earth surface or cause earthquakes in deep ocean, but I bet you, you do care that waves can make you happy, sad, excited, and sometimes desperate. Believe me; they can change your climate instantly. Am I dreaming?! Not really. Waves are the most important means of communication in this world, and maybe I should have said the only one (Sorry, I cannot confirm this for other worlds, but I suppose there would be some other sort of waves). You’ve probably heard someone laughing or crying, or seen a fantastic scenery which amazed you. You can see where I am going with this, right? My point is our life without waves is like a black screen. The unfortunate is you would not even know this is a black screen, just a complete non-sense life.

I think we are now clear about the role of this THING in our life. I said waves are the cause for everything in this world, but I must admit that they are not responsible. We are! We create those creatures to make our life better or more miserable. A man who screams the war order to kill thousands or a man who announces a campaign for saving lives in African villages they both use waves to accomplish something.

I am not sure if you have ever noticed a special kind of wave which is totally different from other types in nature, but with the same characteristics and much stronger power and impact. I call this type “People Wave”. Looking briefly at the world history, we realize the fact that whenever human life has changed, positively or negatively, it was the impact of a people wave; people who decided to improve or destroy their lives. Now, wherever there is a need for change, people should start the wave to make the change happen.

Two essentials of the people wave, like all other types of wave, are having more than one particle (we are really particles in this world by the way!) involving in the wave movement and steadiness of the movement. Consider a water drop who wants to create a tsunami. It is going to vapor and the big ocean full of drops does not even care a bit. They just sit motionless and emotionless and say ”what a pity! He was a nice dude. Oh, who was that by the way?!” Nice try. You just killed yourself for nothing, who cares? Who cares if you wanted to show them they are drops but have the power to be a tsunami if they work together.

I’ve seen lots of people trying to change the world. Some of them had the power to reach their goals to some extent. For those who failed, or has not started yet, I want to give a suggestion: do not fly too high because the body that packed your parachute might have not flown before. Start slowly and try to develop your idea to reach the point that you have powerful support. I respect the fact that they want to change things that human has been suffering, but they should know that one hand cannot clap!

I deeply believe in the word of holy Qur’an that says nothing changes unless the people want to.

Today Microsoft announced the delivery of the Windows 7 release candidate for MSDN and TechNet subscribers. This is a very good news for PC users. I've been using this operating system for couple of months now. It's been a huge improvement since Vista. I believe this OS is going to make everybody happy. Way to go!

Lose it or Loose it?

I've been telling myself since last night: it would not be a lost, look at it in a good way, look what you’ve gained, you are not going to lose them... just scrambling around and talking to myself. This feeling may be familiar to you. The world is not going to be in your favor forever. You get used to someone or something and one day you have to give it up: a friend, a job, a life, or even a habit. Here, specifically, I am talking about relationships.
I've been always scared of losing ones that I love or I feel a strong connection to. But you cannot stop others moving. So the big question which leads your reaction and post event life is "Am I going to lose it or loose it?". The answer totally depends on the situation of course, but it is also impacted by the strength of the relationship and your party as well. Sometimes it is the end of story when you cannot see your party for ever (like last year when I lost my father), and sometimes you hope to see them, but not that often. I think human acts interestingly in the first case: he almost keeps his relationship in the form of memories, but nothing to be worried or scared of anymore. In the second situation, he is loosing the connection string. This is even a tougher task because he cannot see the other end of the string anymore. He is always scared of the day his party or something (specially the time) cuts the string.

I am not kind of a guy who establishes a relationship (or strong friendship) very quickly, because I see heavy duties and responsibilities when crossing some lines to get closer to someone. So, it is a big bang for me to lose one or loose a relationship. I always come up with the same solution in such situations (It seems I forget it every time and I have to spend a night or two over and over again). Do not let the string decay over time; polish it, use some EVOO (Extra Virgin Olive Oil) once in a while to shine and jazz it up. Do not let an old Persian quote come true: “Az Del Beravad Har Anke Az Dide Beraft” (rough English equivalent: relationships get lost when people get out of your sight).

Do you want to make everyone believe what you think it is true?

Your friend is giving you a ride on a dark road. You believe that there is a bridge on your way that has been damaged by flood. Considering the car speed and the road condition, you warn your friend that you are going to die passing the bridge. Unlike you, your friend believes that the bridge is totally fine and there is nothing to worry about. Now it is time for a big decision: you either take the control of the car (this may need some force) and chose another road or gently ask your friend to stop the car and let you get off. What would you do?

Openning Statement

Last night, my wife and I were wondering in the mysterious world of philosophy till morning. We talked about almost every big question mark in the world and we tried to convince each other with our theory in some way or another. I woke up this morning with a comfort feeling of our discussion and I realized that how much I've always wanted to share my thoughts with others. We should accept the fact that we may never know the truth behind most of the our wonders, but it is one thing that I know for sure: human must seek answers for his questions, even if he winds up nowhere, otherwise he will live and die in dissatisfaction.

I will be trying to talk about my observations and thoughts. What I am not going to make this blog is a place just to discuss philosophical subjects. I am trying to post anything I think it is worth to share with you: scientific, philosophical, environmental, or even political. So please take the journey with me if you like.
